Kanayama
2006
Kanayama is the biggest "Bizen style" ware production site in Japan.
Tsugaru Pottery has a huge production. Most of the ware use a mix of local clay and shigaraki clay and all the kilns are fired the same way, derived from Bizen firing style, with heavy charcoaling at top stoneware temperature. Depending on the number of chambers, firings last 3 to 5 days.

Two-chamber noborigama with big "anagama style" firebox.
A staff member loading a noborigama chamber. Efficient team organization leads to a full noborigama loading lasting only between half and one working day !
